General Updates and Migratory Challenges for 2023General Updates and Migratory Challenges for 2023
Thanks to the program " Qué Legal "¸ for inviting me to participate with the theme "General Updates and Migratory Challenges for 2023".
I leave the link here so you can watch it (it is in Spanish), https://lnkd.in/e-Wdhk8r .
Below is a summary of the main points:
- Better response times from the DGME.
- Unified criteria in the resolutions by the evaluators of the DGME.
- That the Regulations for the Investor, Rentier and Pensioner Law are released.
- That the amounts calculated for the CCSS (Social Security) are reasonable and not left as currently approved in the regulations.
I also called on the national authorities and the government of the Republic regarding the not-so-fortunate migrants who request refugee status, it is time to act, and regularize in some way the many refugees in the country so that they can comply with social security and tax payments.
In addition, there must be job options since requesting refugee status becomes a "free entry" card to be able to work and stay in the country.
We need Costa Rica to implement a comprehensive immigration policy where the foreigner who comes to invest, work or retire feels protected and welcome. We also need options for, what is called, an "economic refugee", as this impacts national security.
